The Hyde Park Suzuki Institute’s In-School Program - Music Stands! provides public and private schools an opportunity to offer stringed instrument instruction to students during the academic year. The program may be implemented as a before or after school program, or programming may be available during school hours if scheduling permits.
Due to budget cuts and the re-prioritizing of arts programming in many our schools today, principals and school administrators are seeking innovative ways to give their students access to the arts. Computers and technology in the classroom help to bridge part of the gap in resources by providing access to information directly in the classroom. However, there are no substitutes for learning music experientially, first hand and through personal practice.
Music Stands! is a creative intervention system that allows students access to music education within the school.
